Can you stand up for your neighbours who need certainty and stability to rebuild their lives?

Australians support each other in hard times and we are asking the Federal Government to play its part in creating an inclusive and welcoming community for all.

Thousands of men, women and children who came to Australia for safety more than a decade ago, were denied an opportunity to rebuild their lives. They now face the prospect of harm if forced to return to their homelands by the Federal Government. Families are in fear of being permanently separated, including those with children who are Australian citizens.

They were failed by the last government’s unfair ‘Fast Track’ system and have been waiting for a clear and timely resolution. Granting them a pathway to permanency will at last resolve this uncertainty, enabling them to rebuild their lives.

Families with children, elderly and people with disabilities seeking asylum do not have access to health care or safe accommodation and currently face poverty and homelessness.

Only one in five people in need receive a basic living allowance to keep food on the table. Charities and local governments are stepping in to help but cannot meet the overwhelming demand.

The Federal Government has a responsibility to support the basic needs of people seeking refugee protection so they can live safely in Australia until their immigration status is resolved.

Join us to urge Immigration Minister Tony Burke to provide the certainty and support our neighbours need to rebuild their lives in Australia.
